These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the products and services provided by Canter Intelligence, LLC ("Canter Intelligence," "we," "our," or "us"), including the Canter Intelligence Performance Suite, Barn BrAIn monitoring system, and our website at canterintelligence.com. By using our services, you agree to these Terms.
1. Services
Canter Intelligence provides two product suites for the equestrian industry:
Performance Suite: A browser-based video analysis tool that uses AI pose detection to score rider position against USHJA Hunt Seat equitation standards. All video processing occurs locally in your browser. No video data is uploaded to our servers.
Barn BrAIn: An edge AI barn monitoring system that runs on NVIDIA Jetson hardware installed at your facility. Barn BrAIn provides fire and smoke detection, horse behavior monitoring, and health alert notifications. All video processing occurs locally on the installed hardware. Camera feeds never leave your local network.
2. SMS Alert Service
Barn BrAIn includes an optional SMS alert service ("Barn BrAIn Alerts") that sends automated text messages when safety or health events are detected at your facility.
Program name: Barn BrAIn Alerts by Canter Intelligence
Message types: Fire and smoke detection alerts, horse health warnings (colic indicators such as extended lying, repeated rolling), behavior anomalies, and optional daily status summaries.
Message frequency: Alert messages are sent only when events are detected. Under normal conditions, expect fewer than 5 messages per month. During active incidents, multiple messages may be sent with a minimum 5-minute cooldown between alerts per camera. Daily status messages, if enabled, are sent once per day.
Message and data rates may apply. Your wireless carrier's standard messaging and data rates apply to all SMS messages sent through this service.
Opt-in: You must explicitly consent to receive SMS alerts during Barn BrAIn system installation and setup. Only phone numbers provided and confirmed by the facility owner or authorized administrator will receive messages. We do not send unsolicited messages or share your phone number with third parties.
Opt-out: You may opt out of SMS alerts at any time by replying STOP to any alert message. You can also opt out by contacting us at info@canterintelligence.com or by removing your phone number from the Barn BrAIn system configuration. After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message and no further SMS messages.

3. Accounts and Access
Some features may require creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorized access.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use our services only for their intended purpose: equestrian performance analysis, barn monitoring, and related safety and training functions. You may not use our services to monitor people without their knowledge or consent, or for any purpose unrelated to equestrian facility management and rider training.
5. Hardware and Installation (Barn BrAIn)
Barn BrAIn hardware remains the property of Canter Intelligence during pilot programs and leasing arrangements. You are responsible for providing suitable power and network connectivity at the installation site. Installation requires physical access to mount cameras and route cabling. You are responsible for obtaining any necessary permissions from your facility owner or management for hardware installation.
6. Limitations and Disclaimers
Not a replacement for human oversight. Barn BrAIn is a supplemental monitoring tool. It does not replace the need for regular in-person barn checks, veterinary care, or fire safety systems. AI detection systems may produce false positives or miss events. You should not rely solely on Barn BrAIn for the safety of your animals or facility.
Performance Suite analysis is informational. Scores and recommendations from the Performance Suite are intended to supplement — not replace — the guidance of a qualified riding instructor or trainer.
No guarantee of uptime. While we design our systems for reliability, monitoring may be interrupted by power outages, network failures, hardware malfunctions, or software updates. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of planned maintenance.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Canter Intelligence shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our services, including but not limited to loss of animals, property damage, or personal injury. Our total liability shall not exceed the fees paid by you in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
8. Privacy
Your use of our services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.
9. Intellectual Property
All software, algorithms, designs, and content provided through our services are the intellectual property of Canter Intelligence, LLC. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer our software or detection models.
10. Termination
Either party may terminate service at any time. Upon termination of a Barn BrAIn installation, we will arrange removal of hardware at a mutually convenient time. Your behavior monitoring data stored on the local device can be exported before removal upon request.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Clackamas County, Oregon.
